about us

"In my early twenties, I was working as a boat rigger in Southold, Long Island."...

…”One day while lifting a boat motor, I strained my lower back pretty badly.  I went to the ER and was given pain medication, which didn’t help.

I was then seen by an orthopedist who also gave me pain meds, which still didn’t help.  Fortunately the orthopedist referred me to a chiropractor, which at the time I knew nothing about, but was willing to try anything.

Dr. Karpf examined me and explained exactly what I had done to my spine; not only my lower back, he also identified my unresolved neck injury from a car accident several years prior.  Back at the time of the accident, I had received the same “treatment” – pain meds, which again had done nothing to actually help my neck pain and headaches.

As I started my treatments with Dr. Karpf, I began noticing improvements in both my low back AND my chronic neck pain.  The best part…all without any medication!

Interestingly, this was all taking place at a time in my life where I was still in college, undecided, but had been thinking of going into the medical field.  Because of my life changing experience with chiropractic, I decided to become a Chiropractor.  I wanted to help people overcome pain and physical dysfunction to be able to live healthy, active lives.”

After finishing chiropractic school in 1991, he came back east wanting to be near the water.  He considered moving back to Long Island and visited other places like North Carolina’s outer banks, but fell in love with the Chesapeake Bay here in Maryland.

He began as an associate Dr. in Fells Point, MD; after a few years, he relocated to the Pasadena area at the Mountain Rd location.  Ten years ago he moved the office to its current location at Edwin Raynor Blvd and has opened a home office in Darlington, MD.
